The Red Bull Stratos event is a space diving project sponsored by Red Bull in which skydiver Felix Baumgartner jumped to Earth from a helium balloon in the stratosphere on October 14, 2012. The jump was from a height of approximately 39 kilometers (128,000 feet), which is considered the edge of space. Baumgartner broke several world records with the jump :
- Reaching the highest altitude ever attained in a manned balloon flight
- Highest skydive in history
- Longest freefall in history
- First person to break the sound barrier without the aid of a vehicle
