Country music and lobsters—two things you never thought would go together, but here we are. Meet Fraser Newcombe, the Canadian country singer and his one-of-a-kind lobster guitar.

Yes, you read that right—a lobster guitar. And if you think that sounds fishy, just wait until you hear the story behind it.

Fraser Newcombe hails from Murphy’s Cove, a place where the sea’s rhythm is as constant as the beat of a country song. Growing up surrounded by music and fishing culture, it was only a matter of time before Newcombe combined the two. But who knew it would result in a blazing red lobster guitar? Apparently, Newcombe did.

For years, Newcombe dreamed of this crustacean creation, but guitar makers from far and wide kept turning him down. Maybe they thought he was just fishing for compliments? Finally, Newcombe found his catch of the day in Moncton luthier Don Fitzsimmonds. Fitzsimmonds agreed to the job, and the result is a shell-tastic masterpiece that’s been a hit ever since.

The guitar, painted a vibrant lobster red, has become a staple of Newcombe’s shows. Fans line up after each performance to snap selfies with the unique instrument. “People love it,” Newcombe says, “but not everyone sees a lobster. Down south in Arkansas, they called it a crawfish!”

To be fair, it’s all about perspective—one man’s lobster is another man’s crawfish, right?

Country music on a lobster guitar. We never thought this could be a thing, but we’re certainly glad it is. Let’s be honest, nothing says “country music” like singing about heartbreak and fishing while playing a lobster guitar. It’s like the ultimate surf and turf combo.

So, if you ever find yourself at a Fraser Newcombe concert, just remember to bring your camera—this is one fish tale you’ll want to capture. And there you have it, folks. Here’s to Fraser Newcombe and his incredible, crustacean-inspired creation. Long may he claw!
