Ever thought your guitar collection was missing something? Maybe a touch of aquatic life? Well, meet the Bluegill Resin Telecaster—a guitar that’s gone fishing and never came back.

Made by JL Custom Guitars, this Telecaster is a fishy affair, and we mean that quite literally. It features real Bluegill fish encased in translucent blue epoxy, making it a catch like no other.

For those of you who think this is just another fish tale, here are the specs: It boasts a chunky C flame maple neck with a 12-inch radius, Buckeye Burl wood, Andrew Robertson handwound pickups, a Texas Custom Smooth play bridge, and Hipshot locking tuners. Weighing in at a hefty 10.2 lbs, this guitar is no lightweight, just like a well-fed bluegill.

Now, let’s address the fish in the room (there ain’t no elephant in here). Yes, these are real fish. Locked forever in a resin body, these Bluegills are now part of the music world. It’s a whole new level of animal guitars.

Fish Out of Water

A few years back we thought epoxy guitars were just a fad. Those mesmerizing videos of guitars being encased in resin took the internet by storm. We watched in awe, thinking, “Wow, that’s cool, but it’ll never catch on.”

Well, joke’s on us because here we are with a Telecaster that’s practically swimming.

You have to admire the dedication to realism here. These fish look so fresh, you half-expect them to start flopping around during a solo. Imagine the possibilities—playing a gig at an aquarium, serenading a school of fish, or maybe even convincing your bandmates that Phish’s next album cover should feature this beauty.

Hook, Line, and Sinker

If you think this guitar is just a gimmick, think again. The Bluegill Resin Telecaster is a fully functional instrument with some serious craftsmanship behind it. It’s not just about the fish—though they do steal the show.

But who’s this guitar for? Maybe it’s for the die-hard Phish fan who’s always looking for something unique, and wants to add a little aquatic flair to their collection. Or maybe, just maybe, it’s for the guitarist who’s tired of the same old wood and wants to dive into something a little more… fishy.

This Bluegill Resin Telecaster is a reminder that in the world of guitars, anything is possible. Yes, even a guitar that’s part Telecaster, part fish tank, and all kinds of crazyness.
